The Understanding of the Old Testament Covenants

A. A contract between two parties, a binding agreement based on certain conditions with promises.

B. God established a covenant that was conditional or unconditional, obligating Himself or others.

C. They contained blessings or certain promises from God.

D. They involved principles that guided the recipients in a righteous manner.

E. They allowed for fellowship and communion with God.

F. Each had a universal and personal impact for them and us.

G. Understanding the covenants helps one to interpret scripture.

H. Old Testament covenants all point to Jesus who would be the mediator of the New & Better Covenant.
